Read Mark 11 in the app

1And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

3And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

5And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

7And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

8And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

10Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

11And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.

Was this not where in other accounts he cleansed the temple?

However, Dake's Study Bible gives some notes worth looking at.

"Notes For Verse 45 a [cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought] This is the third purification of the temple. The first one is earlier in His ministry (Jn. 2:15). The second is a few days earlier than this at the first triumphal entry (Mt. 21:12; Mk. 11:15) taking place Friday before the crucifixion. After spending Thursday night at the home of Zacchaeus in Jericho (Lk. 19:1-21), Jesus goes to Jerusalem on Friday and makes His first entry (Mt. 21:1-16). He returns to Bethany where He passes the Sabbath, where He eats the first of three suppers, and where the first of two anointings takes place (Mt. 21:17 Jn. 12:1-11). On Sunday He makes His second triumphal entry and returns to Bethany (Mk. 11:1-11 Lk. 19:29-44 Jn. 12:12-19). On Monday He returns to Jerusalem, cleanses the temple, teaches, curses the fig tree, and goes out of the city (Mt. 21:18-22 Mk. 11:12-19 Lk. 19:45-48 Jn. 12:20-50). On Tuesday He goes back to Jerusalem, teaches, gives the prophecies of Mt. 24-25 Mk. 13; Lk. 21 and returns to Bethany to have the second supper and second anointing (Mt. 21:23--Mt. 26:13; Mk. 11:20--Mk. 14:9; Lk. 20:1--Lk. 21:38). On Wednesday, which is from Tuesday sunset to Wednesday sunset, or on our Tuesday night the last supper is held and Judas betrays Jesus. The Gethsemane prayer, the arrest, the trials throughout Tuesday night (or the first part of their Wednesday) and all the events of the crucifixion and burial end on Wednesday at sunset (Mt. 26:14--Mt. 27:66; Mk. 14:10--Mk. 15:47; Lk. 22:1--Lk. 23:56; Jn. 12:1--Jn. 19:42). Thursday, beginning at Wednesday sunset, is the first day of the feast, the high day and a special sabbath (not the weekly sabbath, Lev. 23:7,24,35; Jn. 19:31). Christ's body is in the tomb and His soul and spirit in hell for three full days and nights (Mt. 12:40, note). Notes For Verse 46"

The above in quotes are worth studying in depth later personally.

12And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

13And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

NII OKAI · Mark 11:1813 February 2023

Yes, they sought how they might destroy him, this small boy 🧒, 33 years barely, and he had such influence over the people.

How long were they going to allow this to continue? It was only a matter of time they would be rendered redundant.

These leaders and elders 🧓 of the people, so called, were only interested in keeping their positions of power.

They were willing to kill to keep their place.

Their interest was not the things of God; they were only there to please themselves and would do anything to keep things that way.

This is the state of the church today ⛪.

A mixture of good and evil, righteous and wicked alike. A sad 😔 state to be in.

So we the righteous must arise and take our place, lest evil 😈 prevail over the house 🏡 of our God.

NII OKAI · Mark 11:181 April 2025

This Jesus, he was getting too powerful and influential.

To the point he could lash people out of the temple.

And his teachings, who did he think he was, claiming some special relationship with the divine?

Don't forget these Pharisees were hypocrites, and so saw things in that light - that he was deceiving the people just like the way they also deceived the people.

But then Jesus worked miracles, miracles which no man nor prophet ever worked, to show clearly that he was of God.

19And when even was come, he went out of the city.

20And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

27And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

28And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

NII OKAI · Mark 11:2813 February 2023

By what authority do you do these things?

This small boy 🧒, 33 years of age, had usurped their authority.

This was his house, his temple 🏛. Built with his resources to honour him.

Now men, wicked men, had ravaged it and turned it into a place of merchandise.

He was not going to look on unconcerned, especially now that he was physically present.

This kind of merchandise had gone on over the years.

Even from childhood he had seen these things, and his heart burned 🔥 within him.

But now he was of full age; he had the authority and influence to do as fit.

He drove these wicked ones out of his house 🏡.

29And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

30The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.

31And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?

NII OKAI · Mark 11:3113 February 2023

So I say on the behalf of Jesus, why did ye not believe him?

Because you cared less if he was a prophet or not, if he was from God or not.

He was not of your camp, so you would not endorse him.

Not that John needed any endorsement from man 👨🏿, for he himself was a burning 🔥 and shining light ☀.

No wonder John was in the wilderness and had a vibrant ministry from there.

Though he was from the tribe of Levites 😢, he walked 🚶 away from the temple 🏛 and your practices and filthy ways.

So he went to the wilderness by the Spirit of God, a voice, a voice of one crying 😢 in the wilderness 🏜 to prepare the way of the Lord.

He indeed was a burning and shining light.

So now to the matter at hand 🖐️, why did you not believe him?

You loved your own ways and place and would not give it up for the truth of God's ways.

You liars and brood of vipers... Ye are of your father the devil 👿

32But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

33And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

NII OKAI · Mark 11:333 November 2022

Such cheek 😝.

This was the high priest of all people.

Jesus so provoked them and showed them what hypocrites they were.

NII OKAI · Mark 11:3315 February 2023

Cast not your pearls before swine; he was not going to tell them by what authority he did what he did.

He would not let them know that this temple 🏛 was built for him and with his resources he provided, i.e. the earth 🌎 and all that therein is.

He was not.
