1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter there in, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

7Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

NII OKAI · Hebrews 4:815 November 2023

Initially I presumed that the people born after the generation that wasted in the wilderness are the ones that entered into his rest.

But Paul's exposition is that even they did not. Because if indeed they did, we would not have David here in Psalm speaking of another day of rest,

To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

As to whether the people in David's day heeded his warning and entered in, it is not likely, as we see how the people and their kings rebelled constantly against the LORD.

Hebrews 4:8 NKJV
For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.

9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

NII OKAI · Hebrews 4:1015 November 2023

He that has entered into His rest has ceased from his own works into the works of the LORD.

His life is not his own; his life is the LORD'S and the LORD'S his.

He has taken the yoke of the Lord, and the Lord's yoke is not burdensome.

This is actually what the Lord spoke to me about — that I should bear his yoke as he takes my heavy yoke from me by the power of the anointing.

Isaiah 10:27 KJV
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

As I began to pray a few minutes ago, at about 1am — 15th November 2023 — the words of Isaiah came to mind. I was reminded by the Spirit of it, as that was the impression I had had the previous day in my prayers.

Now as I took my phone, I somehow decided to read my Bible plan from the YouVersion Bible app, but using Olives Bible, since that has the Dake's commentary...

Myself I was wondering why I was reading the Bible instead of praying.

Then I started by reading the book of Hebrews talking about the rest of God, only for it to link 🔗 perfectly 👌 with the scripture in Isaiah about the anointing breaking the yoke, and how that we need to learn from the Lord as he takes our heavy yoke in exchange for our light one.

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The Lord is indeed speaking to me through these verses.

11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15For we have not an high priest which can not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16Let us therefore come bold ly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
